“Oval” Series

I am fascinated by making paintings that can depict a feeling, a moment. I am interested in the notion of isolation, and although no figures are depicted there is often a strong sense of a human presence in the work.

Composition is another major concern – I am interested in setting up pictorial scenarios that invite the viewer to ask questions and look closer. Mirrors feature in many of the rectangular works in the Oval series. In the oval paintings the painting becomes the mirror, which in turn reflects interior spaces that evoke memories of childhood.
